New Year, New Me

Image
It's a new year and a new opportunity to make some improvements!  I joined a gym a month ago and recently started working with a personal trainer. I have some health challenges so I want to be as healthy as I can be and so that means losing the last 15 pounds that I have been trying to get off and getting stronger. Another improvement I will be working on is posting to this blog more frequently.  I would like to say regularly but sometimes life just gets in the way. I have an aging parent that is starting to need more help from my husband and I.  I would also like to improve or increase the number of sewing/quilting projects this year and complete this nagging stack of UFO's that keep staring me in the face asking me to finish them.  Here's the list of UFO's that need to be completed: 1. XOXO quilted wall hanging 2. Succulent pillow 3. Dad's table runner 4. Chandelier quilt 5. Christmas quilt 6. Starry Night diamond painting I'm sure there's a couple more p...

Tropical Waves and Crochet

Image
We recently got back from a trip to the Big Island of Hawaii. Hawaii is my favorite vacation destination.  This year our trip just happened to fall during national coffee week and the Big Island of Hawaii is known for their Kona coffee! We visited two coffee plantations, Holualoa Kona Coffee Company and Ka'u Coffee Mill. These are two of our favorites and yes we bought some coffee to bring home. I absolutely love the contrast of the turquoise blue water, the sand, the lava rocks and the palm trees on the big island. The beach just north of the Kona airport is one of my favorites but the drive to get to it is rough and that is an understatement!! We saw a couple of green sea turtles resting in the tidepools. It's always fun to see the turtles! Another one of my favorite spots to visit is  Puʻuhonua  o  Hōnaunau National Historical Park . It is  a place of refuge and royal grounds south of Kealakekua Bay.  I did manage to get a little crafting in while ...

Quintessential Wallet

Image
I've started the Quintessential Wallet from Sweet Pea.  The pieces are each done in the hoop on my embroidery machine and then sewn together.  I barely had enough fabric to make this. I have all the pieces ready to sew together. This will be pretty simple until I get to the gusset. We will see how it goes! If you have made this wallet leave a comment and let me know how it went together for you.  The next project I need to get going on the the Chandelier quilt. It is a free pattern and you can find it by going to Lella Boutique

Rosemary, Garlic, Parmesan Bread

Image
Baked a loaf of rosemary, garlic, parmesan bread and the house smelled so good!  I used this everything bagel no knead bread recipe. Everything Bagel No-Knead Bread  I modified the recipe slightly by omitting the everything bagel seasoning and using 1 tbsp of rosemary, 2 tbsp minced garlic (I used the kind in the jar) and 1/2 cup of grated fresh parmesan (not the Kraft parmesan). It turned out amazing and I think we like it better than the everything bagel bread.  To be honest, this recipe is sooo easy and tastes as good as any sourdough bread I've ever made. I don't think I will ever make sourdough again! Looking to try some other spices/flavors so if you have some suggestions, leave me a comment.

Hello, anyone here?!

Image
Hello, anyone here?!  Welcome to my crafting journey.  I will attempt to share my current WIP's and completed projects. I will also share tips and tricks that have worked for me. I do many different types of crafts besides sewing and quilting such as watercolor painting, paper crafts on my Cricut and I crochet and knit. I love to machine embroider. My favorite machine embroidery projects are bags and table toppers. I have made this quilt in the hoop. That was a daunting task! The pattern is from Sweet Pea. It is called Floral Burst Block and Quilt . Right now I am working on several different projects which I will be sharing in future posts. My husband and I love to travel. I will share some of our adventures from time to time.  Our favorite place to vacation is Hawaii! We have been there several times and have visited most of the islands. I hope you will stick around and bookmark my blog or add it to your reading list! Thanks for reading, Teri
